Our team is a passionate group of individuals committed to improving the health and wellbeing of mothers and infants in Gaza. Each member brings a unique set of skills and expertise, working together to advance GINA’s mission

  • Reem Al Soufi

    Founder & Emergency Medicine Consultant

    Reem provides overall leadership for GINA, driven by her passion for protecting breastfeeding and maternal mental health.

  • Nick Staite

    Strategy & Transformation Consultant

    Nick supports GINA with strategy development and operational processes, inspired by his own experiences with breastfeeding advocacy.

  • Yafa Ajweh

    Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Training Lead

    Yafa delivers lactation support directly to mothers in Gaza through GIBA’s remote service team and also leads GINA’s training programme for healthcare workers in Gaza.

  • Alison Robb

    Community Breastfeeding Peer Supporter

    Alison has over 13 years of personal breastfeeding experience and is passionate about empowering mothers to overcome challenges.

  • Rehana Aslam

    NHS GP & Breastfeeding Advocate

    Rehana brings her experience in policy consultation, advocacy, and breastfeeding research, combining her medical expertise with a passion for maternal health.

  • Iram Naz

    NHS GP & Fundraising Team Member

    Iram is passionate about making a positive impact and supports GINA’s fundraising efforts, bringing her experience as a doctor and humanitarian to the team.

    Humanitarian and a Biomedical Scientist (PhD)

    Sarah is passionate about supporting mothers and children through GINA and is an advocate for children’s rights across the globe. She provides strategic planing and Fundraising support.

  • Marianne White

    Midwife & Infant Feeding Advisor NHS Scotland

    Marianne provides compassionate care to mothers and babies and offers lactation support to healthcare staff in Gaza.

  • Lorna McKerracher

    Neonatologist & Baby-friendly Initiative Lead NHS Scotland

    Lorna shares her expertise in neonatal care and palliative support with her colleagues in Gaza, and is deeply inspired by their resilience.

  • Rachel Smart

    Journalist & Social Media Manager

    Rachel manages GINA’s social media presence, using her background in politics and international relations to amplify the stories behind GINA’s work.

  • Thuraya Al Awwa

    Clinical Dietitian and Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)

    Thuraya, a lactation consultant and nutritionist, is dedicated to empowering mothers and improving infant nutrition, particularly for premature babies.

  • Nour Abdeen

    Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Nutritionist

    Nour advocates for breastfeeding, particularly for mothers of premature babies, and is dedicated to promoting the benefits of “Liquid Gold” for infants.

  • Sadaf Raza

    Cardiology Specialty Trainee in England

    Sadaf’s role is leading the coordination for the Remote Support Scheme providing individual consultations and follow-up for lactating mothers in Gaza. Sadaf is compassionate, dedicated and has excellent organisational skills.

  • Erin Garcia

    Emergency Medicine consultant in Scotland and a humanitarian

    Spent time in Gaza in previous missions with the MSF and has a practical understanding of healthcare set up in Gaza. Erin is passionate about supporting mothers of premature infants and supporting Gazan doctors develop as future healthcare leaders.

  • Sandra Alder Killen

    Emergency Medicine Nurse and a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)

    Sandra has extensive experience as an emergency nurse dispatched to several disaster zones and also as a lactation consultant, She spent time in Gaza in May 2024 and is due to return to Gaza on another mission in the near future.

    Sandra is a champion of breastfeeding and supporting women and children.

  • Amara Alder Killen

    A humanitarian and Social Scientist

    Amara started volunteering in the West Bank during her undergraduate studies, she completed her MSc in Sociology in London and is currently working in Greece supporting refugees.

    She is passionate about supporting mothers and children (takes after her mother Sandra who is also a volunteer with GINA).

    Amara provides administrative support for GINA.

  • Dr Ruba Sulieman Kurd

    Deputy Director for GINA and remote lactation advisor

    Ruba is a Gazan doctor who is temporarily residing in Egypt, has extensive experience in humanitarian work in Gaza and delivers operational and data management for the team in Gaza.

  • Dr Ameera Qudeih

    Breastfeeding team leader and lactation advisor, Nasser Hospital

    Ameera leads breastfeeding promotion work and offers support in the baby-friendly rooms, empowering mothers to continue breastfeeding despite challenges.

  • Dr Doaa Sersawi

    GINA Lactation Advisor Doctor at Nasser Hospital, Gaza

    Doaa supports mothers in the Neonatal ICU and Special Care Baby Unit, providing essential breastfeeding guidance for premature and sick babies.

  • Dr Raghda Abdel Jawad

    GINA Lactation Advisor who is committed to providing high risk babies with the best start in life through breastmilk. Raghda has special interest in supporting babies with congenital abnormalities and low birth weight.
